As you may already know, many dental issues can occur during pregnancy if you do not take proper care of your smile. So, to help you keep your oral health in tip-top shape as you hold the bun in your oven, we recommend doing the following things:

· Brush: Thoroughly brush your teeth every morning and every night with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Do your best to scrub each tooth and free the plaque and food particles that reside on your smile.

· Floss: It is recommended to floss at least once a day with a flossing product of your choice; however, you are more than welcome to floss more frequently if you desire. Just be careful around the gums as you do so.

· Rinse: Rinse your mouth daily with antibacterial mouthwash to help control the plaque growth on your smile. This will help you prevent gum disease and it can also reduce your chances of becoming victim to tooth decay.

· Have a balanced diet: Do your best to have a balanced diet each day. This will help you maintain the health and strength of your teeth, especially if you try to eat more fruits and vegetables as often as possible. If you can, please try to keep snacking down to a minimum.

· Visit your dentist: It is vital that you visit your dentist every six months for a routine dental cleaning and checkup. When you come into our office, make sure you tell us that you are pregnant so we can treat your smile accordingly.

· Control oral acid: If you vomit frequently because of morning sickness, try rinsing your mouth with a tablespoon of baking soda and water to stop the stomach acid from destroying your teeth.
